buyCTgrown Fellow

The buyCTgrown Fellow is an unpaid, part-time position at CitySeed, a dynamic, entrepreneurial, community-based non-profit entering its sixth year. CitySeed seeks to grow an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. The buyCTgrown Fellow will work closely with CitySeed staff to bring sustainability and success to the current operations of buyctgrown.com, an interactive website connecting local food to local people. This position offers an opportunity to play a critical role in assisting CitySeed’s work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific
• Contact farmers and food producers directly to update current listings and profiles on buyctgrown.com, 5-10 hours a week
• Assist in improving functionality and usability of website
• Develop manual, so others may replicate efforts, that provides directions for improving website.
• Other tasks as needed

General
• Interact with staff and community members in a constructive, professional way and build good working relationships
• Independe
ntly plan and execute work to meet assigned objectives, asking for assistance as needed

Farmers’ Market Fellow

The Farmers’ Market Fellowship is an unpaid, part-time position at CitySeed; a dynamic, entrepreneurial, community based non-profit entering its sixth year. CitySeed seeks to grow an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. The Farmers’ Market Fellow will work closely with the Market Manager, primarily at the markets but also in the office, to ensure smooth, orderly operations of the market. This position offers an opportunity to play a critical role in assisting CitySeed’s work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific
• Serve as assistant to Market Manager, 10-15 hours a week
• Support revenue-generating efforts through selling bread and merchandise at our markets
• Provide assistance for SNAP, Credit Card and coupon transactions at market
• Organize and maintain inventory of CitySeed promotional materials and market supplies, including restocking when necessary
• Greet market patrons and serve as a resource for their questions
• Help
Unload, assemble and pack up CitySeed market table supplies


General
• Interact with staff and community members in a constructive, professional way and build good working relationships
• Indepe

Food Access Fellow

The Food Access Fellowship is an unpaid, part-time position at CitySeed; a dynamic, entrepreneurial, community based non-profit entering its sixth year. CitySeed seeks to grow an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. The Food Access Fellow will work closely with CitySeed staff and VISTA member to enhance our efforts of ensuring access to fresh, healthy food for all New Haven resident’s, particularly low-income communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific
• Assist with preparation & execution of Community Supported Market program and other CitySeed programs related to food access & farm viability as needed
• Support local community initiatives to increase awareness, access, and education of fresh, healthy food
• Update current research on barriers to accessing fresh, healthy food
• Seek and repr
esent CitySeed at opportunities (i.e. events, programs, lectures) to inform New Haven residents of market locations and our acceptance of Food

Operations Fellow

The Operations Fellowship is an unpaid, part-time position at CitySeed; a dynamic, entrepreneurial, community based non-profit entering its sixth year. CitySeed seeks to grow an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. The Operations Fellow will work closely with the Executive Director and staff to ensure the smooth, orderly operation of the office. This position offers an opportunity to play a critical role in assisting CitySeed’s work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific
• Ensure the smooth operation of the office, including answering and directing phone calls, filing, handling mail, updating and keeping track of the office calendar, responding to requests for information and helping to execute fundraising, events and market openings and the like
• Organize and maintain inventory of CitySeed materials, market and office supplies, including restocking when necessary
• Assist in entering information into CitySeed’s databases and analyzing data as needed
• Other related operational
tasks as needed

General
• Handle confidential material with sensitivity, discretion and good judgment
• Interact with staff and community in a constructive, professional way and build good working relationships

Social Media and Publicity Fellow

The Social Media and Publicity Fellowship is an unpaid, part-time position at CitySeed; a dynamic, entrepreneurial, community based non-profit entering its sixth year. CitySeed seeks to grow an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. The Social Media and Publicity Fellow will work closely with CitySeed staff to disseminate CitySeed news, events and programs through various mediums to the greater New Haven community. This position offers an opportunity to play a critical role in assisting CitySeed’s work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Update social networking sites, such as facebook and twitter, on a consistent basis
• Update CitySeed’s website for usability and accessibility
• Enter information into Constant Contact for market email list
• Assist in the design of marketing and promotional materials
• Assist in the overall publicity for CitySeed, including press releases and press materials for events
• Other tasks as needed General
