Market News & Map

Welcome to CitySeed’s website and thank you for your interest in our markets!
CitySeed continues working to connect New Haven residents with nutritious, Connecticut grown and produced foods and to promote local farm viability. We believe that local farm products are the freshest, healthiest, and tastiest foods available; the consumption of which connects communities, develops our local economy, and celebrates the variety of agricultural goods in the state of Connecticut. All markets accept Food Stamps and WIC coupons. Just head to the CitySeed stand at the market and ask how!
In addition to the network of farmers’ markets and our work here in New Haven, CitySeed is now operating a statewide “buy local” campaign called Buy CT Grown. The centerpiece of the project will be a comprehensive, consumer-oriented website, www.BuyCTGrown.com, designed to become the essential resource for individuals and family’s looking to enjoy the state’s food and agricultural communities. This network will dramatically strengthen the marketing and promotional infrastructure available to farmers’ markets across Connecticut.
We encourage you to browse through our website to learn more about what CitySeed is doing to promote an equitable, sustainable food system and encourage residents of New Haven (and Connecticut!) to eat healthy and eat local. Here on the website, you will also find a copy of the CT Department of Agriculture’s Crop Calendar. This calendar will show you the growing season of various fruits and vegetables available in Connecticut and provide a guide as to what you might expect to find at the markets. Because the produce at CitySeed markets is exclusively Connecticut grown, certain fruits and vegetables are harvested at different points throughout the season. You will find that our farmers grow a wide variety of herbs, vegetables, and fruit that you will not be able to find at a supermarket, which makes going to the market a unique experience. The CT Crop Calendar is an excellent guide and worth putting on your fridge or bringing to the farmers’ market.
Finally, please come down to the market, visit the CitySeed table (where we sell hand-crafted bread) and say hello! Everyone at CitySeed, including all of our volunteers, is more than happy to give you whatever information you may need. And don't forget to talk to the farmers! They are eager to share information and knowledge about their farms, their crops, and maybe even how to cook that vegetable you’ve just discovered at their table!
